I am trying to reformat a Dell Dimension 2100 with Windows XP Home Edition which it came with according to the product key sticker, however Dells web site states it came with Windows 2000 which may or may not be relevant. The bios are up to date.
When I boot up the computer I do not get the F2-Setup and F12-Boot Menu options you see in the upper right corner of the monitor. Tapping the F12 key while booting up does nothing and I also tried another keyboard. Tapping the F2 key while booting up does allow me to get into Setup and I tried making the CD ROM the first boot device and attempted to boot the computer with the operating system disk in the drive but the computer just boots to windows installed on the C drive.
Does anybody know why the F2-Setup and F12-Boot Menu options at start up do not appear and is there a way to fix this so I can get into the Boot Menu options and choose the CD ROM option to boot from the operating system disk?
